Manager- Club

Job Description

We are seeking a Club Manger to join our team . Although our Clubhouse is open May through September, this is a year-round position with commensurate salary and benefits.


The Club Manager shall provide the general management of the administrative, financial, and program
operations of the Club in concert with the Club's annually established budget, initiatives, and goals.

  • Must have strong communications skills

  • Will be responsible for achieving revenue goals

  • Must be self-motivated and outgoing

  • Recreational sailing and boating experience a plus

  • Actively participate in the establishment of the Club's annual Operating and Capital Budgets by providing historical and forward-looking input to both the Finance Committee and the Treasurer

  • Manage and be principally accountable for the financial achievement of operations within the Board approved Operating and Capital Budgets

  • Oversee the daily bookkeeping function and provide financial analysis and reporting

  • Manage relationships with all key vendors, and be the primary interface with controls in place

Facilities Maintenance:

  • Maintain primary responsibility for all the Club's facilities in terms of ongoing inspection and proper maintenance

  • Directly manage the Board approved maintenance projects and all capital improvements

  • Establish processes and procedures for the accounting of all maintenance and capital improvement expenditures such that there is a continuously accurate record of the Club's assets, and controls in place for all expenditures

  • Report all unplanned needs for maintenance expense or capital improvements to the Club Commodore for resolution during the year

Dining and Bar:

  • Manage to excellence the delivery of dining and bar services

  • Work with the Chef and Dining Committee to ensure optimal pricing of all food and beverage

  • Establish and monitor controls to ensure consistent food quality, adherence to all employment, safety, and hygiene requirements and laws


  • Organize and coordinate major events at the Club

  • Attract and book private events

  • Actively work with committees to develop and implement programs and activities

  • Oversee the Junior Program staff and budget and insure that all policies, procedures and curricula are followed


  • Be active in continuously improving communications with Club members

  • Maintain a positive and welcoming persona to all Club members to promote an energized Club


  • Oversee and administer a summer employee roster of approximately 35 and ensure that ongoing
    training and established performance standards are met

  • Invoke a sense of team work and positive spirit among all staff members throughout the season
    by direct example and ongoing support and management

  • Retain key staff over multiple seasons to drive efficiency, member satisfaction, and a sense of Club continuity


  • Demonstrated general management responsibility for full service private club

  • Deep understanding of all Club functions from food service to sports programs and special interest activities

  • Skilled, proven leader and manager with the ability to attract, hire, motivate, and retain
    seasonal and part-time staff

  • Exceptional communication skills from social media savvy to deft personal engagement

  • Ability and willingness to live locally year round

  • Flexibility to work extended hours during the busiest part of the season

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and meet operating and capital budgets in cooperation with numerous volunteer committees and the Board

  • Self-directed demeanor with strong work ethic and hands-on/service orientation

The Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club, located in mid-coast Maine, is seeking a full time Club Manager who is energetic and self-directed, having a demonstrated ability to provide leadership and instill teamwork to continue to build a vibrant and engaged membership. Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club, in existence for over 125 years, encompasses an extensive, picturesque harbor-front campus, and offers tennis, sailing, and numerous special interest activities for all age groups. In addition, the Club boasts a seasonal full dining and bar function headed by an executive chef, as well as a newly completed Sailing and Education Center focusing on youth programs and providing a year-round venue for Club meetings and gatherings.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
